Indonesian court Declare Two British Journalists Guilty



Two British journalists were found guilty by an Indonesian court. They were found guilty of making a documentary on tourist visas.

As reported by the BBC on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, Neil Bonner and Rebecca Prosser Indonesian navy arrested in Batam Island on May 28, 2015. They were arrested while recording images for National Geographic program about maritime piracy in Southeast Asia.

For his actions, they had previously been sentenced to two months and 15 days in jail since September. Both were also fined as much as $ 2,500 or equivalent to Rp 33 million.

Attorney Bani Ginting, in closing the court said legally that the two journalists are guilty of using their tourist visa to conduct "inappropriate activity."

He recommended that the two men sentenced to five months in prison and pay a fine of more than US $ 3,000.

"What they entered into a criminal offense," said Aristo Pangaribuan, a lawyer from Neil Bonner and Rebecca Prosser.
