Deputy Ambassador of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Malaysia Hermono said the total death toll from the sinking of a boat incident in Sabak Bernam continues to grow. As of today, the total death toll has increased to 51 people. A total of 22 new bodies of passengers killed were found in a pathetic state.
Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Malaysia Herman Prayitno said the bodies they are currently interred in Hospital Ipoh and Teluk Intan Hospital. Herman explained, inspection procedures to be made to all bodies of victims which includes a visual examination, personal effects and DNA.
"The DNA data already out and will soon be taken to be handed over to the family. The delivery of the data that will be coordinated by the police in the Central Police Sena River near Ipoh Hospital," said Herman.
Meanwhile, the total new survivors numbered 20 people. Allegedly, there were about 70 passengers on the boat measuring 15X3 meters. Excess passengers suspected to be the main factor causing the boat sank.
According to information from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the boat will depart from Malaysia headed to Tanjung Balai Asahan, North Sumatra. They want to return to the Homeland. They were forced to use the boat for fear of operation netted Foreign Immigrants Without Identity (PATI). Because, if caught, they could be banned from setting foot in Malaysia for five years.
